Sinking lines is often a must if the pollack is on the menu. Apart from that, you will most of the year find pollack where you find the sea-trout, places with good currents and toungs of land. The flies used for the sea-trout is left on when going for the pollack. This species tends to thrive best in warmer water witch points out the southern coast as the place to go. This fish must be experienced. In respect to their common weight, they are among the Norwegian coasts most strong-fighting fishes. Their contant attacks are followed by long leaps downwards. A newly report claims a pollack on 7 kilos caught in the fjord outside Kristiansand.
Again, Asgeir has been on the right place at the right time:
- Tromlingene, mai 1996
In the morning we set out to try the sea-trout and test
out a few things. We started casting from the edges of small islands outside
Tromøya, situated close to the city of Arendal. The fly was an orange
coloured dog nobbler. There was pollack on every cast. The day totalled
25 most of them where released. The ones brought home where around two
kilos.
