Reddalskanalen

Photo: Jan Hansen

Reddalskanalen (kanal=canal) was constructed in xxxx. The aim for this work was to achieve transport of agricultural and forestry products from the rural districts to the cities of Grimstad, Lillesand and Arendal. What is today a canal was once a watercourse connecting two lakes and several ponds with the sea. Remnants from this period can still be observed along the canal by means of stone mills etc. For the flyfisher the changing tides afflicts the way of the current through this channel which makes the sea-trout moving in and out chasing herrings, shrimps and whatever the taste might be. The picture shows a view from a pond near the outlet.
