The Salmon Index Page

Mandalselva

Mandalselva is one of the large rivers of southern Norway. You can fish for salmon and seatrout on 48 km of the river. On this strech you will find slow water, rapids and waterfalls with deep pools beneath. The river runs mostly trough farmed country and the scenery is beautiful. Like many rivers of southern Norway the salmon caught has an average weight of about 2 kg.

Equipment:
As Mandalselva is pretty large and many places flows fast we would normally recommend the use of a two hand flyrod.

Statistics:
In 1998 it was caught roughly 1200 salmons in the river.
