Namsen, Fishing Tactics

Even if Harling is predominant in Namsen,
many places are excellent for flyfishing from the shore

The size of the river and the size of the fish calls for quality equipment. For boat fishing, spinning reels are popular, with monofilament lines according to the actual water level. Wobblers of brands Rapala and Bomber are the by far most used bait for harling.

From the beginning of July the suitability of fly fishing increases significantly. Fly fishing requires a two-handed rod, with a sinking, intermediate or floating line, depending on water level. Popular fly patterns are old traditional, relatively large flies like Thunder and Lightning, Silver Grey and Green Highlander, preferably tied as tube flies in sizes 1,5 - 2’’. Other popular patterns include Sunray Shadow, Rusty Rat and Black Doctor.
