SPORT FISHING IN NORWAY

Regulations for salmon, sea trout, sea char and inland fishing.

Inland Fishing

There are 39 different freshwater fish species in Norway. In many parts of the country, trout and char are the only resident species. Other popular sport fishing species are perch, grayling and pike. There are far fewer restrictions on inland fishing than for salmon fishing. Inland fishing is generally permitted throughout the year, with any kind of tackle which is not prohibited by law. County administration or landowners may impose restrictions on fishing season and tackle. Information on fishing regulations is available upon purchase of a fishing license.
