Access
to Reksjå is easy by foot from the Lake Mår near the Kalhovd
tourist station. Most people come by car and park at Synken where the tourist
boat can bring you across the Lake Mår to the tourist station Mårbu.
When heading for the Reksjå area you start a slow rise west / northwest
from Synken. After two hours you are on top of the ridge and will see Reksjå
in the far. If you camp at Reksjå you will have a lot of possibilities
for long day hikes with a lot of smaller lakes and streams where you can
fish. We will give you a few examples.
Reksjå.
The Lake Reksjå, is divided in three parts; the
northern-, the middle- and the southern lake. Each year in the automn there
is a occupational fishing here and considerable catches of big fish is
netted. There is quite a few left though, and large splashnoises can be
heard out there in silent nights. Unfortunately the big fish is far out
and it is not allowed to use a boat here. But, if you are wery patient,
fish of considerate sizes surf the beach in high day as you can see up
left. It was caught in late July 1999 on a Elk Hair Caddis size ten. There
was a breeze witch made the trout a bit less suspicious.
If you are getting desperate, try to flyfish the channel
between the south and middle lake where large fish come in when it is dark.
There are some current here. Also fishing the outlet of the southern lake
seems promising. Here it is partly shallow water so bring some lightweight
waders along.
A days trip, or an alternative route back to Kalhovd,
is to follow the watercourse downstream to the Lake Bakketjørn.
Along the way remember to try the pools along the river.
Especially the one upstream from Bakketjørn when the dark falls.
The small lakes west of Bakketjørn is also said to keep nice trout.
