Places: |
Through generations the
southern Norwegians have fished for eel. Farmers and land
owners placed eel vessels along the streams and rivers.
Large amounts of eel have been exported to Denmark and
other European countries. Now eel fishing has been made
available for the sportsfisherman several places in
Norway. Fishing for eel demands a little patience; some call it a lazy man's fishing. The expectant tranquillity is part of fishing for eel. Nevertheless, one must be very alert, for a big unruly eel will not give up without having tried all means of escape before being pulled ashore. Eel can be fished in small or large lakes and far out to sea but the passionate eel fisherman often picks out special spots. |
