A fly swap is an agreement to exchange flies made within an interest group such
as flyfish@ . It is usually initiated by someone asking for an interest in, by
example, a steelhead trade. Then whoever interested sign on, make their own
selection, and mail them to the one managing the swap. After a few weeks your
share of the threasure arrives by mail. The manager is blissed with the fun of
looking at all those flies and is loaded with all the work.
Here is an example of what
I received when joining
such a swap in the spring of 1995. I had thought of reporting the list after
catching a fish on every one of them. A foolish thought it was, at last this
year as the family grew from three to four during mid-summer. (Well, of course I
knew in advance...:-) )
