Jock Olsen Salmon Hairfly
This Jock Scott inspired pattern have given me many a good day in the
river, and I think it is my best fly in the hunt for Salmon Salar. No matter
the time of the day, or witch river, the soft teal fibres gives the fly
the right touch. Fished on a floating line, also on big river’s, the Salmon
rises to take the fly. |

Muddler Salmon
A muddler which is quickly dragged across the surface is often what
you can use to get the salmon or sea-trout going. Specially for night fishing
it is hard to get a better flie. In a normal summer river I use big muddler’s
in sizes 4 to 1 with a greased intermediate line, in smaller rivers I use
floating lines. It is important to tie the flie without too much weight

Rusty Rat hårflue- variant
(standard versjon E.O.)
The Rusty-flies can be found in a number of variations, but as this
one, most of them have little in common with the original. How ever, this
one is a very god fly for slightly coloured water, and as a «sunny-weather
fly». |

Silver Rat
This flie was probably invented by Roy A. Thomsen, who lived in New
Brunswick around 1910, he is also the inventor of the flie Gray Rat. I
use Silver Rat in the larger sizes for night fishing after sea-trout. But
the S.R. is even better for daytime salmon fishing. Small or big river
? ... as long as the river run’s, this fly will fit.. |

Mar Lodge Single Salmon
The Mar Lodge that is composed with hair is an
attractive fly to fishermen and fish alike. It is a winner for the big(early)
salmon runs tied on a size 2 hook as well as in less sizes later
in the season. The fly, wich originates from from the beds of River Dee
in Scotland is still going strong both there and in Norwegian Rivers. Of
the flies with a silver body, this is my favourite. (see also the sea-trout
version) |

Lee Wulff
Lee Wulffs salmon dry patterns are well known.
Not everyone are aware of the fact that he used wet flies regularily when
he was out to challenge the atlantic salmon. For many years I have tried
several of his patterns in Norwegian rivers. I have ended up with using
mainly three of his patterns and will present them on this pages one by
one during this spring. First out is the Wulff Grey Salmon Low-water.
Wulff Grey - Salmon fly of
february
Wulff himself stated that this fly is particularily
suitable on low water and a crystal clear river. I can recommend to use
them in sizes 4-6-8 and the Mustad series 8500 is a good choice. |
