March Brown Salmon - Hairfly

Thread : Gray
Hook : Mustad 80500 bl or M. 36890 4 - 1/0. for Sea-trout: 80525 10 - 6
Tag : Oval silver # 14 Veniard.
Tail : Fibre from pheasant tail.
Body : Gray-brown underfur with a tiny section of yellow fur towards the bend/tag.
Rib : Embossed silver tinsel medium.
Wing : Underwing: a few fibres of pheasant tail, and two fibres of brown Lureflash Twinkle TW 16
OverWing: of gray-brown soft squirrel.
Hackle : Natural patridge
Head : Transparent head cement
This is my best fly for salmon and sea-trout. In rainy weather I only need a few more flies.
In the evening, through the summer I don’t feel comfortable if my flybox doesn’t have
Marsh Brown’s in any size. I’ve used this pattern for more than 30 years and are hopefully
going to use it as long as I can lift my rood.
For sea-trout I sometimes tie my M.B. on double hook’s, size 6 -10.
