Finished Fly

What you need:
Hook:
Thread:
Eyes:
Wing:
Throat:

Weed guard:

Partridge sea prince  8-4/0.
White single strand nylon.
Orvis pre painted eyes.
Lureflash Translucent or Super hair white.
Lureflash Translucent or Super hair, with 5 or 6 strands of  Crystal hair white.
 Monofilament.

Tie in the monofilament about half way down the shank of the hook and about half way  round the bend.
2
Now turn the hook upside-down in the vice. Make sure the monofilament  follows the bend of the hook in between the jaws of the vice. And then tie in the eyes, leaving enough space for the head. The eyes of the Clouser minnow can be tied in above (USD) or under the hook shank, depending on if you wish the pattern to be fished  (up side down) or not.

The wing should be tied in right behind the eye of the hook and with several tight turns of tying thread. .

Then pulling firmly on the winging material, place the wing over and in between the eyes. Then by taking the tying thread underneath the eyes make several tight turns at the  back of the eyes securing the wing along the hook shank until you come to the monofiliament.
5
Take the tying thread back down the hook to the eyes. Now taking the monofilament  and bending it over forward and placing it in between the eyes. Now you can make a few turns of tying thread just to hold the mono in place, when you have done this you  should be able to adjust your mono by sliding it backwards and forwards until you have it right. When you are satisfied the hook guard is in place trim og the access mono and tie in securely.
6
Turning the fly back the right way again, tie in 5 or 6 strands of crystal hair in front of the eyes, this should be a little longer than the wing and throat.

Tie in the throat immediately behind the hook eye and secure with turns of tying thread up to the front of the eyes as shown, whip finish and coat head with clear varnish or 5 minute epoxy.

Finished fly.
